A certain Baba-Yomo sends a letter to a newspaper in which he denounces the persecution he underwent: he had written an article that criticised the government. But now the time has come to put things right: it’s election time, a chance to change the country. The director of the paper looks back on the story of the brave journalist, his kidnap, and the accident which made everyone think he had died. In the meantime, at the polling stations, a crowd waits to identify the man. Nobody takes notice of a poor cripple on a wheelchair: despite everything, he still hasn’t given up hope for a democratic future.
