It’s the story of a village girl who is brought into the city and “sold” as a maid. After being pickpocketed at the market, she’s accused of robbing in the house where she works, and her punishment entails rubbing chilli on her genitals. After this torture, Madjalia cannot have children. The author denounces such types of torture that are still often practiced.
