Maguiguane, Mozambican hero – Maguiguane is a hero of the resistance against the Portuguese colonizers, and he successfully attacks many military headquarters of the enemy. The Portuguese organize a powerful counter offensive to exterminate the local population. During the battle of Macontente on August 8th 1897, Maguiguane’s troops heroically resist until death.
