In a high school in Siena, a teacher observes the new pupils she will have to teach for the next five years. There’s Jenna, a Nigerian girl; Serena, who went to primary school with her and Manuel, who’s a bit arrogant and prejudiced. The teacher asks the kids to give a presentation about themselves, in a creative way. This gives Jenna the opportunity to talk about her country and her family’s experience of migrating to Italy, where she’s been able to live with dignity and in peace. The colours of the Palio horse race in Siena, that are so similar to the colours of Nigeria, have helped her when she has missed the home she loves so much.
The discovery that they support the same district in Siena helps Manuel to begin to overcome his mistrust in those he considers “different”.
